UH – Fort Bend Campus

Fort Bend County, Texas

Project Size:

200 Acres

University of Houston

Services Provided:

Planning + Urban Design

A new 200-acre land for the UH Fort Bend Campus was envisioned within the city limits of Sugar Land. In working with the UH administration Lt. Governor Hobby’s office, llewelyn-davies sahni developed a conceptual Campus Plan as well as an urban design study for the surrounding 2,000 acres. This plan responded to the high degree of visual exposure to Highway 59 (Senator Lloyd Benson Highway) and to the natural site drainage through the creation of a series of retention/detention lakes that form the focal point of each cluster of buildings. The plan complements the surrounding land uses of the Brazos River Basin by including a 400-acre neo-traditional community and providing facilities for conventions, research and office use, and extensive recreational use. The first two buildings are in place and in accordance to the l-ds plan.
