In 2015, the Houston Airport System authorized L-DS to prepare a conceptual development plan for the 440-acre site at Ellington Field. The development plan was to provide a market-sensitive, phased strategy for the eventual construction of a wide range of facilities to meet the emerging needs of the aerospace and spaceport industries. The immediate goal was to present the development concepts at the 2015 Space Commerce Conference and Exposition (SpaceCom), which was held in November 2015 in downtown Houston.
The plan was prepared with the active and on-going participation of a number of stakeholders from various fields.
